The Beacon March 2019

Pictured here is our annual Wild Game Dinner. The food was fabulous, the fellowship was great. However, due to some sickness and bad weather, we had quite a few leftovers. We served the dinner again on Wednesday. Everyone was happy to have “Take Two” because the dishes were so yummy! Thanks so much for praying for this event.
Our kids and other church folks came for Spic & Span Saturday, and we scrubbed and polished the church. Afterwards, we had pizza & a movie. Our folks and kids worked very hard, and we are so thankful!!
Special Thanks to Central Rock Gym for giving us a Discounted Rate to bring our Youth for an Adventure. We are so Thankful for the Youth of our Church!
Our Men’s and Ladies’ Bible studies are also pictured here. Praise the Lord for a great month!
Psalm 31:19-24 NKJV – 19 Oh, how great is Your goodness, Which You have laid up for those who fear You, Which You have prepared for those who trust in You In the presence of the sons of men! 20 You shall hide them in the secret place of Your presence From the plots of man; You shall keep them secretly in a pavilion From the strife of tongues. 21 Blessed be the LORD, For He has shown me His marvelous kindness in a strong city! 22 For I said in my haste, “I am cut off from before Your eyes”; Nevertheless You heard the voice of my supplications When I cried out to You. 23 Oh, love the LORD, all you His saints! For the LORD preserves the faithful, And fully repays the proud person. 24 Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart, All you who hope in the LORD.

The Beacon February 2019

Please pray for our newest ministry, Monday Morning Meditation. One of the things I have tried to do as a pastor is to help our church folks engage in more collective prayer. When our advisory board met in January, we prayed about and discussed ways to make prayer more intertwined in our weekly activities. We pray together on Sunday mornings during our Bible Study Hour (Sunday School) before the Worship Hour. We pray together on Wednesday nights during our prayer meeting and Bible study. Our men and women pray together at their respective monthly Bible studies.

We were looking for an additional collective prayer opportunity each week, and this idea came to us.  Basically, I send out an e-mail and Facebook post of the points from my Sunday sermon along with a prayer with each point. Also included is the daily Bible reading for the following week’s Sunday School Bible Study. Finally, we include the coming events for convenience. It is our hopeful prayer that these posts will serve the purpose of encouraging meditation on the Word of God, praying in the Word of God, and reaching those at home who could not come to church that week.

Technology has advanced to the point that we can broadcast the Sunday service on Facebook Live and link that to the Monday Morning Meditation post. Now those who could not be at church with us can feel like they were there.

Please pray with us as we embark on this uncharted and new ministry.  Please also pray as we continue the other ministries already in place.

In the coming months, we hope to make improvements to our current technology ministries (website, social media, and e-mail communication). Please pray for our church folks who are facilitating that on a volunteer basis, as they are extremely busy yet very generous with their time.

We had a great time bowling!

Psalm 121:1-8 NKJV – 1 I will lift up my eyes to the hills–From whence comes my help? 2 My help comes from the LORD, Who made heaven and earth. 3 He will not allow your foot to be moved; He who keeps you will not slumber. 4 Behold, He who keeps Israel Shall neither slumber nor sleep. 5 The LORD is your keeper; The LORD is your shade at your right hand. 6 The sun shall not strike you by day, Nor the moon by night. 7 The LORD shall preserve you from all evil; He shall preserve your soul. 8 The LORD shall preserve your going out and your coming in From this time forth, and even forevermore.

Psalm 100:1-5 NKJV – 1 A Psalm of Thanksgiving.

Make a joyful shout to the LORD, all you lands! 2 Serve the LORD with gladness; Come before His presence with singing. 3 Know that the LORD, He is God; It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; We are His people and the sheep of His pasture. 4 Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, And into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name. 5 For the LORD is good; His mercy is everlasting, And His truth endures to all generations.

We are looking forward to seeing the Lord increase the scope of our ministry here in Rhode Island in 2019. Please pray that God would continue to give us opportunities to witness and that He would provide the resources and people necessary to expand our ministry. Please pray that the Lord would give us wisdom to be more effective as a body of believers doing God’s will.

Our current ministries include Monthly Youth Activities, Women’s Bible Study, Men’s Bible Study, and Church Fellowship Dinner.  Weekly we have Wednesday Night Youth Hangout, Church Dinner, Bible Study & Prayer Service,  Sunday Morning Bible Studies & Worship Hour, and Tuesday Job Corps Bible Study. Please pray for us as we seek to plan the New Year’s activities and serve the Lord with gladness.

Pictured above is our Church Christmas Dinner & Movie Night. We had a wonderful time together. Our Christmas Eve Candlelight Communion & Carols service was such a blessing, as well.

Left and below are pics of family time from Christmas break. Marcus Jimmeye, Hannah’s boyfriend, joined us, as well as Michaela & Eric! 🙂 Left: We escaped from a challenging Escape Rhode Island room called “The Bunker” with only eleven seconds to spare!  The girls still like to use the nativity finger puppets when Daddy reads the Christmas story from Luke 2:1-20 and Matthew 2:1-12 (below right). Stockings (below left). Eric preached for us the Sunday after Christmas. It was so nice to have everyone here. Happy New Year!

The Beacon Christmas 2018

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
We are praising God for another year of His faithfulness to us. God provided many new opportunities to present the gospel, disciple people, and draw closer to Him. We are grateful for answered prayers and faith-building trials. His provisions and blessings are overwhelming!
This year, Eric Cowart joined our family by marrying Michaela, who has just finished her courses for her degree in Bible, English, and Music from Welch College. She will graduate in May. Hannah is two semesters and a summer internship away from finishing her degree in Exercise Science. Billy graduated from High School and has begun two years of training in Piano Technology at North Bennet Street School in Boston. Praise the Lord, there is a commuter rail right in town, so we get to see a lot more of him. Sarah is working her way through her sophomore year of high school, doing very well. We are so very thankful for the amazing children God has given to us!
We are also so very thankful for all of you, friends, family, and church families across the country who love, pray for, and encourage us in so many ways. Words cannot express how much those expressions mean to us!
With love and appreciation,
Pastor Bill, Christy, Eric & Michaela, Hannah, Billy, Sarah, & Rocky
